Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team. You’ll architect and implement scalable data systems that power key product capabilities—from personalization and analytics to AI information retrieval. Your work will directly enhance how Zapier uses data to deliver intelligent automation experiences.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Scale Data Systems: Design scalable, secure, and reliable data infrastructure and APIs that power core product functions.
• Define Data Architecture & Standards: Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to optimize data models, workflows, and storage.
• Ensure Quality & Observability: Implement testing, CI/CD, and monitoring to maintain reliability and performance.
• Optimize Performance: Continuously tune and monitor data workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Enable Data Reusability: Develop shared frameworks and tools for other teams to self-serve data safely and effectively.
• Mentor & Lead: Guide other engineers, promote best practices, and influence Zapier’s long-term data architecture strategy.

About You

• 6+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data or distributed systems in the cloud.
• Expertise in Databricks, Spark, or similar distributed processing platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript, plus advanced SQL experience.
• Deep understanding of APIs, data pipelines, observability, and CI/CD.
• Collaborative communicator who values simplicity, performance, and data excellence.

Compensation

USA: $170,700 – $256,100 USD

Canada: CA$170,700 – CA$256,100

Includes equity and bonus opportunities. Final offers depend on experience, skills, and impact level.
